Pass the Vodka When life hands you lemons...... ****sigh**** So I guess that it's true...when it rains, it pours. I cannot for the life of me, understand, that a person who pays over $6000.00 a year for health insurance can be denied coverage for a test which could potentially save her life. That person...is me. Here's parts of the conversation I had with them.... No MRI today as my insurance company, good old Blue Shield, denied coverage. Saying the test was not medically necessary. NOT medically necessary? Excuse me? Did I hear you correctly? WTF?? You know my previous diagnosis, you know what I could be potentially facing now, and you deny me? This is total bullshit. So what your saying is that I need to be half way in the fucking grave before I can have this test? Ma'am..you can appeal our decision. Appeal? Are you on fucking crack? This is a test that could find if cancers are lurking elsewhere in my body and you want me to appeal? No, not actually appeal...you want me to BEG for my life!!! I pray this does not happen to one of your family, or your child, or yourself...I know the "big picture"..I didn't fall off the cabbage truck this morning...as long as you get your $ 'n can save the insurance company $ is all your concerned with... I'm finished talking to you...***hang up*** So, I call the hospital to cancel my appointment...well, it's less than 24 hours that I'm canceling, therefore, the hospital may charge me a fee or they could actually charge me for the test itself...but that's been resolved. No fee will be charged as this was not MY fault. Of course, they want to place the blame on me, however they did admit they were the ones who sent the info to the insurance company..and they have talked to my doc who WILL appeal this claim for me...in fact, the process has been started as I type this. Now to top things off, it's raining like a bitch here, and I notice a leak in the bathroom. Come on, say it with me, KAT NEEDS A NEW ROOF! LOL! Also, there is no heat in the house, as my furnace is not working. The pilot light is flaming away, and the blower blows, however the switch that ignites the pilot to flame up is not working. So, the furnace guy is on his way, and the roof, well that is in the process of being handled too...As they say, shit happens in 3's...ok, I can deal with that... I guess when life hands you lemons, there is only one thing you can do... ADD VODKA! :-)
