Ask A Pro:
Guliding The Lilly

Dear Gracie, what's the deal with men... They say they want a 'natual looking' girl, but guess who always gets the looks? The girl with wild & big hair & blood red lips does, that's who! Unless the natural girl is the one with the huge tits & the lowcut shirt, she doesn't get the attention. And even then, if Miss Big Hair is stacked as well, 'natural girl' is invisible again... But, if your guy says 'natural' and you aren't a big makeup freak yourself, what can you, what should you do?
Stacked but with flat hair & pink lips in Virginia

Dear Stacked but flat,

A common complaint, to be sure. There are several issues here, unfortuately, I can't say which one fits your situation best, but here's my advice...

First, most guys who say 'natural' then lust after the painted ones, are 'suspect' in my mind, and ought to be in yours. They have significant issues with the whore-madonna commplex, and should be watched closely.

Why do I say this? Well, often, a man will 'want' one kind of woman, but 'take' another kind for 'himself.' Meaning, he'll lust after the one, but only will bring the other home to mamma & his friends. Or, and sometimes this is in addition to, he will have issues with trust. "If she looks that good, she'll never be true," he thinks to himself.

Basically, he is afraid of 'his woman' being too sexy.

If this is the case with your guy, it is pretty easy to check out. Investigate old girlfriends, meaning ask if mutal friends, not stalking his past girls, and see if there is a pattern... Plus, a quick check is to get painted & head out on the town. His reactions will tell you if he's a freakin' nervous, insecure dude, right fast!

Now, the other part, lies in the paint itself...

There is nothing wrong about the use of red lipstick, beauty pagent hair, and high glamour ~ I certainly love it for myself! But there are times & places when it might be 'too much.' Or, you just might not feel comfortable with that look.

It all comes down to personal style.

Gore Vidal said, "Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn." And I agree. If you prefer a more natural look, then skip the red lips & the teased hair ~ but that doesn't mean you have to do 'nothing' either... There are plenty of stops in-between 'all' and 'nothing.'

Many of the so-called 'natural beauties' use tons of products, and take hours to get ready. For example, Brigitte Bardot, is what many a man will point to, and say 'see, she didn't paint herself up like that' ~ but we know how wrong they are! *wink*

No red lips, some big hair & clevage yes! But more of a natural looking makeup, see? What man wouldn't lust after that?!

To get Brigitte's look, simply, use natural tones of soft pinks & browns. Use less liner (unless you are going for a retro look at the same time) and emphasize the lips with pink & lots of gloss.

I asked GK, owner of GlamKitty, to give some color suggestions.

For Eyes:

Eye Shadows in Antiqued Rose, Buff, Mushroom & Peachy Keen

(Yes, you can find similar shades 'anywhere' I suppose, but her's is the company I buy from *wink* and she will also help you with specific tips for achieving a Bardot look ~ all you have to do is ask!)
