Vamp It Up! Vamp It Up!

Long before Garbo, there were the vamps. Now we use the word vamp to convey sexual seduction with a hint of camp, but the original vamps were evil. Vamps were like vampires that sucked the life out of their victims. True femme fatals, they stole a man's power -- and enjoyed it!
She was cryptic, ageless. Cold yet sensual. Sex with a vamp meant danger, but it might just be worth it... One of the best vamps was Theda Bara.

She was pale with blood red lips.
This look begins with a pale, ivory foundation & powder. While you should use foundation to match your skin tone, you can use a shade lighter in matte powder to help with this vamp look.
Pale means pale, so no blush is used.
The eye brows are thin & black. Well groomed eyebrows are essential to this look, but please note: think before you pluck your eye brows as they may not grow in again.
For the dark, dramatic eyes, line the entire eye with black liner & gently smudge. Next, take dark eyeshadow from the lid to the crease. Smudge the shadow slightly to the brow bone -- do not go over the brow bone or it will look too heavy. Follow with two coats of mascara.
Lips are red, red red! The lips are first outlined with liner to create the 'Cupid's Bow.' This outline extends a bit in the center at the bottom for a fuller lower lip, as well as a more exagerated curve on the upper center. The sides are outlined on the 'inside' of the edges to create a smaller appearance in the width of the lips. Finish with lipstick, especially concentrated in the center 'bow.'
