Femme Fatale: Famous Beauties Then and Now
If you want to see proof that glamour is *not* dead, then get a copy of "Femme Fatale: Famous
Beauties Then and Now" by Serge Normant.
A gorgeous 'coffee table' book, loaded with fantastic photography by Mic Thompson & Ranee Palone
Flynn. This book not only showcases such beauties as Cindy Crawford, Elizabeth Hurley, & Heather Locklear, but
it also includes Britney Spears, Alek Wek & more. My favs are Julia Roberts (yes, that is her on the cover!) and
Susan Sarandon.
However, this book is more than fab photos -- it inlcudes a look at beauty, decade by decade.
Normant's passion is for hair, so there is quite a bit of history and info on tresses too. A stunning book.
Really.
 The Bombshell Manual of Style
A fast fun romp through the lives of bombshells. No so much on the 'how tos' of makeup or fashion,
but a funny & fresh look at what makes a girl glam! Covers excuses, words to live by and how to throw a tantrum
- you know, the stuff you really want to know. A great book for reading as you soak in a champaigne bubble bath!
Shameless: Women's Intimate Erotica (Seal PR)
A nice collection of erotic stories for women by Hanne Blank. Each story is told by the woman as
if the action were a fond memory... Plenty of bed time tales to choose from!
The Breast Book: An Intimate and Curious History
More than just a picture
book (although there are plenty of them in here!), this book covers cultural issues with breasts. Yes, they are
loved, but there is so much more to them than that! If you wonder where that 'whore/Madonna' complex comes
from, think about how the breast is both a sexual organ and a functional body part for nursing babies...
Confusion, humor, memories of adolescence, celebrities & of course, lots of images of those titties!
Aphrodite's Daughter: Women's Sexual Stories and the Journey of the Soul
One of my all time, favorite books on sex and spirituality. Not from a 'touchy-feely' how-to
point of view, rather it is a frank discussion, including stories from dozens of women who have
experienced sex as a form of healing and guide. The power of sex, sensual pleasure, love & lust seen as a
spiritual journey. A practical discussion of a sacred issue, accompanied by wise words & beautiful poetry.
Bitch: In Praise of Difficult Women
A much 'hated' book, it does some man-bashing. But really, it is a look at how women use their
sexual power, and it is not always flattering. Wurtzel covers all 'difficult' women: from Sylvia Plath to
'Daddy's Little Girls,' from Delilah to Courtney Love. The book covers the wildness & the pain, the desires &
the lonliness. If some men seem to be at the root, feminists will yell 'of course!' while others (men
especially) will complain Wurtzel is a whiner. Your best bet is to read it first, then you have the right to
talk about it.
Different Loving:The World of Sexual Dominance and Submission
Ever wonder about the 'kinky' stuff? Well, first this book discusses what the heck is 'normal'
anyway? and moves along from there... This book is more than mere opinion, over 100 folks participated in
the interviews. Some 'practice' D & S, others are 'experts.' You get the full spectrum presented
here. Full review by Merideth!
 The Story of O
The classic, the controversial, the cult legend, The Story of O. An erotic tale, considered 'disturbing' by some, this book stands along side of the best writings by the Marquis de Sade. Full review by Rhiannon!
 Forbidden Erotica
I normally don't count pages, but when the book is all about the photos, well, then it's
important! A stunning 'coffee table' book, measuring 8' X 10" with 512 pages of vintage porn. Over 1200 antique
hardcore photos from 1860 to 1950. Our grandfolks sure were 'dirty' ~ Fellatio, cunnlingus, anal, watersports,
straight, gay, bondage, domination, whipping, spanking, fetishism and well, what's left?
Gil Elvgren: And His Glorious American Pin-Ups
Another gorgeous display book, full of Elvgren's wonderful pin ups. Elvgren girls are classic works of vintage pinup art ~ so if like them, you'll love this book. Hardcover with 271 pages of pure
cheesecake, without the calories!
The Girls: Sappho Goes to Hollywood
I am not quite done with this fab romp yet ~ hold on, a full review will be done soon!
Complicated Women : Sex and Power in Pre-Code Hollywood
"Complicated Women: Sex and Power in Pre-Code Hollywood" by Mick LaSalle is a terriffic find for
those who love the stories of film legends from a feminist point of view. While LaSalle's love for these ladies
is obvious, after reading the book, you'll feel the same.
This book covers the world Hollywood created & reflected in the Pre-Hays-code of 1920s and 1930s.
LaSalle examines the roles of women in pre-Code as well as present-day films. Legends such as Garbo, Shearer,
West & Young seem to be more than the sum of their roles & personal lives, they become icons for women! True,
this is not a book of beauty tips, but this is one book that lovers of vintage will cherish. If you consider
yourself a classic film lover or are interested in the woman's movement, you *need* this book!

Gynecology, the Metaethics of Radical Feminism : With a New
Intergalactic Introduction
If you thought Bitch was rough, this one will blow your mind. Daly receives much
criticisim, no - make that death threats, for most of her works, and this one is no exception. I don't have
this updated version (yet) but I can't imagine the 'nag-nostic' gets any less strident. Daly discusses, among
other things, how foot-binding and high-heels are forms of female control, and how men have designed women's
mis-trust of one another by having women perpetuate the crimes against each other. This book is for true
feminists. I don't recommend this book to create 'man-hating she-devils' but I do believe knowledge leads
to understanding.
This book is slated for a full review.
