Holiday Lament A light-hearted little ditty to remind us there is life after the holidays. Thanksgiving came with great to do
40 relatives both old and new
Descend upon my too small house
Not even room for the cat and mouse
Up early for the shopping spree
Off to the Mall; it was almost 3
The first one opened at 5:30
Too early in the morning, for even me
Then came the parties in rapid succession
An evil demon was in possession
Four kids, a party for each
And even one for the class I teach
Office parties for one and all
How I long for the quiet fall
Time for kids, friends and such
None for me, that is, not much
No loving, languishing days of leisure
Little or none connubial pleasure
Mornings start at half past six
And don’t stop ‘til all gifts I fix
Not until after New Years do I rest
And every night he wants my best
A pat on the butt, a kiss on the cheek
I’m supposed to be his every night of the week
Now get this good and get this right
I’m not your plaything day and night
Sex and loving will just have to wait
Until packages are opened and everyone’s ate
The parade’s been seen and carols all sung
The New Year’s come and bells have rung
Maybe then, at 12:05
One quick orgasm to know I’m alive
