Beauty Tips for the Holiday Holiday hangover? Party here, party there ~ this season provides many situations when we can be over-served. Even if we stay sober, we are running here & there, staying up late, and it can show on our faces. Well, not on the faces of Sex Kittens, we know these tips! Keep Yourself Wet
No, we aren’t talking about ‘personal dryness’ here, but your skin! Alcohol is drying, add that to late hours, arid environments, and our complexions suffer. Dry skin looks dull & makes imperfections such as wrinkles & blemishes stand out. The best way to hydrate skin is from the inside, so be sure to drink plenty of water. (Though we suppose that drinking enough water wouldn’t hurt your lubrication elsewhere! *wink*)
Bare Yourself, Every Night!
On those late nights that you arrive home, tired & all too aware of the time you need to wake in the morning, you may be tempted to strip & slid between the sheets. But don’t do it before you wash your face. Makeup left on you skin overnight, no matter how ‘dermatologist tested,’ can cause many problems.
Last night’s makeup & other facial debris (dead skin cells, oils, bacteria etc) will remain on your bed linens, and clog your pores or irritate your skin. And all that icky stuff will be there the next night, when you place your (finally!) clean face upon it!
Dirt left on the skin won’t help matters in the morning ~ You’ll scare yourself with your first glimpse in the mirror! No incentive to start the dreaded day, is it?
You would be better off to cleanse at night & opt to sleep in an extra few minutes, skipping your morning cleansing routine.
Be A Loose Girl!
Loose facial powder that is! The granules are bigger than pressed powder, helping to set the foundation and keep it on longer without 'pressing in' and making lines more noticeable. Pressed powers may be more portable for quick touchups, but is quick best, or is it a youthful look you seek? If you must take the pressed compact along, touch-up sparingly to avoid makeup buildup ~ and making those lines more noticeable. *ack*
Know When to Conceal, When to Reveal
When you have dark circles and bags under your eyes, don’t use concealer, which often looks cakey & makes lines more noticeable. Instead draw attention to the top of your eye, away from the circles & lines beneath. Apply a double or triple coat of mascara to upper lashes making them more noticeable, and leave the bottom lashes ‘au naturel.’ This look may not give you an eye lift, but it does pull their eyes upward, and away from those bags.
Add eyeliner to the top lid only, for even more of a pull upward. (This is another case when being top-heavy is more attractive! *wink*)
Add a pair of luscious red lips, and they may not even notice if you have eyes! *giggle*
Bump & Grind?
You only have 10 minutes to create that perfect glam girl look, and in your rush, you find you bump, smudge & then grind your teeth as you'll need to start over again! *grrr* How can you avoid those dreaded smudges?
Believe it or not, there is a basic order to putting on makeup to remain smudge-free. By following this order, you finish one area at time, then as you don't return to it, you are not likely to bump, smudge, etc. Feel free to 'skip' the steps/products you don't use, but apply the products you do use in this order:
Foundation
Eye Shadow
Eyeliner
Mascara
Blush
Powder
Lip Liner
Lipstick
With these tips, you'll certainly put the Ho-Ho-Ho into the Holidays!
