Book Review - The Sweet Potato Queens' Field Guide To Men - Every Man I Love Is Either Married, Gay, or Dead A must have book for EVERY Sex-Kitten's bookshelf! This book is not just a field guide to the male of the species, rather it's the sharing of real life as experienced by real women - with all it's hysterical possibilities covered! The Sweet Potato Queen's Field Guide To Men - Every Man I Love Is Either Married, Gay, or Dead"
HRH Jill Connor Browne was brought to my attention while reading (of all things) the free magazine found in the seat pocket in front of me on an airplane. There was a quick blurb about how she was treated so well by airline attendents on a recent trip that happened to have mentioned this book. Her personality came out in that brief little column and I found myself seeking out her book the very next time I was in a book store. And am I ever glad I did.
Have you ever had girlfriends in your life that you meet and it's an instant "Oh my GAWD girl! Where've you been? We've known each other all of our lives!" Well reading this book, I felt that way about ALL the Sweet Potato Queens that are found in it's rich pages. It IS a kind of field guide to men - helps to point out different types of male personalities, shows you the ones to avoid like the plague, and even talks about training tips *giggle* but most of all this book is a priceless sharing of the experience of being a woman and what that means within relationships. We hear from numerous women (through the voice of the absolutely adorable Miz Jill) and suffer their dating/relationship pains as well as their successes. It is a very easily read book, flowing along with laughter but also tossing out complete gems of wisdom that most of us girls tend to forget about ourselves far too often. With chapter titles like "Man Ears and Other Guy Stuff," "T.G.S." (Typical Guy Shit),and "Because You're Worth It," how can a girl go wrong when searching for some sound advice about those who have both and X and a Y chromosome?
I can't emphasize enough just how much fun this book was to read. To actually laugh out loud while reading is a joy that one doesn't often find in a "self help" type of book. I'm going to go out and not only buy her other books, but I've already signed up for her mailing list and when I have some time I'm going to go look around her message boards at THE O-fficial web site of Jill Conner Browne's Sweet Potato Queens. (maybe, just maybe I'll get to interview Her Royal Highness for this site too! Cross your pretty little fingers for me!)
