Beauty & Submission by Maria Isabel Pita In general, I enjoyed her expression of the fact that when you make love to someone, you do it in all the things you do with them and for them. That it is not just a fact of having very intimate sex with your partner, while it is ok to have crazy, raunchy sex with them and not feel like you are belittling the validity of the experience.  I think Maria Isabel Pita was onto something when she came up for the general concept of her book, Beauty & Submission. The problem being all of the excerpts from the erotica she’s written. It’s not that I don’t like erotica or hers for that matter, but after a while I felt like I was having her stories pimped to me when I was reading this book to hear about her actual life experiences. Early on, Pita does explain that she uses these excerpts from her stories as they take on the representation of the journal she was not keeping. I must admit, I felt as though she was cheapening my reading experience by not taking the time to re-write the actual experiences.
Pita excels best when she is explaining her viewpoint on her BDSM lifestyle. How, as a fulfilled, strong woman she can look at sex and love and distinguish between the two. Overall, Pita’s writing is clear, concise and easy to read. I think she fails in keeping my interest as she started to pop all over the place using excerpts from her stories. I want more perspective on why she felt the need to give the responsibility of her life to a man she calls her Master. She does give a definitive look at the relationship of a BDSM couple as they love and live their prospective lives.
