Cum and Gone I think it would have been awesome to be a sexually active Black gay man in the 60's. Aside from being a member of an emerging counterculture, fucking and sucking and licking and sticking without the knowledge, fear or care of disease would be incredibly freeing. In the end though, it all comes down to cum. Seriously...cum in the 60's was probably an awesome force. In an already oppressive time to Blacks, the parabolic money shot from hot sex was probably the only thing not restricted under Jim Crow laws. In the 60's -- a time of free love -- cum meant life. And really, why shouldn't it? When the balls tighten and the dick becomes engorged with blood, there's nothing that makes a man feel more alive than when he shoots his wad. But these days, cum is reviled as a carrier of disease, and even fetishized by many because of that. The media already paints Black gay men as these "DL" sexual mandingos, fucking men and women alike and spreading their diseased seed. Is it any wonder that cum come and gone in terms of acceptance and connotation?
Also what I feel was different from the 60's to now was how Black gay men met and interacted with each other. Back then, there was no Internet, no phone chat lines...I almost imagine while it was harder to find men, the connections were probably of better quality because the possibility of getting with another dude might've been slim to none. In this age of technology, you've got all these ways to meet guys, and yet, none of us are really connecting in anything but a sexual manner.
The mantra for the 60's was "Hey, if it feels good, do it." It seems like such a simple saying for a simpler time. Maybe ignorance really was bliss.
