DVD Review of "Stories of OH!"

This movie definitely shows women and women’s sexuality in a more realistic perspective. There are no glossy, bleached blond, fake boobed, Barbie doll, plastic stick figures in this movie. The women have real bodies right down to the cellulite on chubby thighs. These women take charge of their own fantasies and pleasure. It mainly features solo sex, but there are two scenes that involve men though there is no penis to vaginal contact or penetration. The women in this movie use fingers and toys and whatever is available to pleasure them, in one scene that I liked it was a female construction worker using a screwdriver to pleasure herself.

Another scene that I enjoyed for the pure story line of the scene was a displeased woman deciding

to stick it to her lawyer, literally by strapping on a dildo and bending him over the desk. Now what woman hasn’t fantasized about sticking it to the man (or a particular man)?

The feminist approach to this movie was new and refreshing displaying women as they are taking charge of their own sexual needs and desires. Maybe I’m just not enough of a feminist though because the sexual porn aspect of the movie didn’t do it for me. I liked the statement it made, but it didn’t turn me on. Porn is supposed to arouse, this missed the mark for me. Perhaps I have been over programmed by glossy hardcore male porn, but that’s what gets me off. If I want real I can get real every day of the week. If I want porn, I want fantasy and even though I love women and think they are beautiful, I’m not lesbian enough to enjoy watching women pleasure themselves. Even though I am a voyeur at heart, this movie didn’t do it for me. I like dick, I like porn with penetration. I like my sex

a little more hardcore.

This movie came off as more political or educational instead of sexual to me. It makes a statement. Great, can’t we get to a happy medium where we can make a sexual statement and still get off? It is after all supposed to be porn, isn’t it? “Women’s porn” for me, often comes off as too soft, fluffy, political or driven or ends up mimicking male porn. I watched a Playgirl DVD and although it was full of male eye candy and more realistic women, every scene had a blow job. If it was supposed to be for women I think it went overboard on the blowjobs which are OK but don’t really do much for me on the visual scale. Men are the ones obsessed with getting blowjobs.

I think we women sometimes get lost trying to fit into the man’s world or in trying to make the statements and forget we’re still trying to be female and sexy and sexual in the process. Traditional men’s porn often goes too far and can be extreme, raunchy or sometimes just pathetic. Hopefully someday we’ll find that perfect balance of real and sexy from a female perspective. I think perhaps women are just too different and diverse among themselves to find one formula that arouses us all. We’re generally not as simple as men in our desires.

If the voyeur in you loves watching real women masturbate and get themselves off, then you might enjoy this movie. I think perhaps even with the feminist statement it was still made for men to enjoy or lesbians because I can’t see too many straight women getting off watching other women get themselves off.
