A walk on a nice summer day reveals these little vignettes of love.

Do I really see them, or am I just a romantic who fancies love everywhere?

A man & woman, perhaps in their 30s, are walking, briskly, down the street. I imagine they are on their 'evening constitutional,' as both are fit looking and their pace is quick, but not rushed. When I first see them, they are holding hands. Not long after, the hands break apart. It must be due to the size differential making walking while holding hands uncomfortable, for as they separate their hands, she looks up at him with a smile on her face. It is clear the break is not a symbol of emotional discomfort. They look happy, their faces flushed with exercise & happily animated while talking, as they pass me by with nods of their heads.

Through a large front window I see an older couple, grandparents watching their grandchildren, sit in the living room. As they prepare to leave, saying their good-byes, the woman bends over to pick up her purse from the floor. Her rump is up in the air and the man, her mate for nearly 35 years, eyes it as hungrily as if he were a playa in a club. She turns around quickly, a soft smile on her lips - she has felt his desire even if she could not see it. They share a knowing laugh.

Another couple in their 30s sits on their front porch with their infant daughter. The house is quiet. Daddy is holding his baby girl and gazes with nothing but love & awe at the growing bundle he holds. The woman sees this exchange of love between her husband & their daughter. She gets a small soft blur to her world, the vision of her family, as tears fill her eyes. She is home.

In a parking lot I see a pair of women. The smaller of the two seems uncomfortable, nervous, as she gently slaps or wraps her fingers nervously on the palm of her other hand. She is looking ahead, but not directly at the women in front of her. The taller women is talking to her, using her hands to gesture, her arms occasionally sweeping wide. She does not seem angry, but agitated. You get the feeling she is imploring. There is a pause & both are still except for the smaller one continues to worry with her fingers. The taller one raises her hand to tenderly touch the smaller woman's face. That is all it takes & they embrace, faces buried in each other's necks.

A 20-ish couple sits on the front steps of a house. They are side by side, his arm around her shoulders, talking intensely. She draws back a bit, some fire in her eyes and gently, playfully shoves him, an 'Oh yeah?!' expression on her face. He laughs hard, pulls her close. She does not protest, but rather snuggles in to fit more comfortably next to him. They both have smiles, and I think he is still laughing. But it looks as if she feels that she has won.
