The BIG Controversy Issue

Often rather controversial, we Sex Kittens embark into familiar territory, offering our thoughts and opinions on a few topics that many steer away from. You'll find some rants, some laughs, raised eyebrows (or pieces that elicit the raising of eyebrows), a few lectures, perhaps a debate or two, and some surprising thoughts as well. (Just when you thought you knew us, hey?)

Warning: This issue includes some topics that may get yer dander up. But that's OK. We all need to re-evaluate our own opinions from time to time, and that's just what this issue is all about.

Not only do we believe you, dear reader, will benefit from looking at some rather diversive topics and issues, but that we as columnists will as well. For it's in the writing ~ the articulating ~ that we are forced to evaluate not only what we stand for, but why.

And that's what this issue is about. It's not about cramming our beliefs down your throat (though many of us do believe we are 'right' *wink*). Rather it's about taking a look at why we think the way we do, what our experiences have taught us, and who and what we are as human beings.

I personally encourage all of you to not only read what we have to say, but to discuss it with us. Even though some of the topics will seem 'same old, same old' in today's world, or the position taken is not yours, please make the effort. I firmly believe that by looking at what we hold most dear in our hearts and minds, by communicating with others who do not feel the same, by allowing ourselves the opportunity to examine more than just what we've held onto all these years, that we all will grow.

It is not to necessarily to make a change in opinions or way of life to grow this way. One grows through understanding, or even attempting understanding. Opening oneself to discourse and affirming the opinions and experiences of others is more than an intellectual exercise, it's a spiritual, or soulful, expansion; even if your views are unchanged, you yourself are not.

Given the types of topics discussed here, I remind you of our Editorial & Site Policies. Discussion and debate about such personal issues will bring enough emotion with it as it is, so let's try to consider the people behind the statements and interact appropriately ~ kindly even.

While I don't expect we'll change the world with one issue here at SK, I certainly believe we'll make internal changes for the better, and that's how any change will start.

I look forward to hearing from everyone. Let the discourse and understanding begin!

With much affection,
Gracie
