Black women have become nothing more than ornaments and fixtures to an over accessorized rap video set. Perhaps it is because the rappers who are in question don't have enough lyrical skills to carry a song with such efficiency that they need to shadow it with naked distractions? Certainly that is it. And I could certainly name them, but this is the land of kiss ass and I would hurt feelings and thus burn bridges. Ha. What bridge? Now back to the rant.
Research has found that the more the rapper lacks in social skills (reading, school, healthy family) the more women he needs in the videos. And yes there are boatloads of naked Black women being propped up in various scenes in the videos through out the set. As Black men continue to rap about virtually nothing. Don't believe me? Listen in. They will snap their fingers and start buck dancing, or shake it and cooning, don't forget their flossed out cars, and did I mention that they had to kill more Black men than the last rapper killed in their latest song. I probably forgot to tell you that there would be more buck dancing and hoes that they pimped and more cars that they have and how many Black men they killed. I guess that method of overcompensation to distract from poorly thought up lyrics has worked for the most part. I mean there are a lot of platinum plaques on the walls in the house of very -very-ignorant rappers.
But how long do they think that this game of buffoonery and sexploitation will last? That is my question. Black women are 75% decision makers in any household. Translation: We are the economic decision makers in any household. But I guess our desire to love unconditionally and in spite of allows us to continue to aid in our own self destruction. WARNING wack rapper: the consensus is that more and more of us are growing tired of being looked at as nothing more than a piece of meat in your wack ass video. Yes brothers, I hate to tell you but - we are sick and tired of being sick and tired.
And stop the press! Before someone says "Shemia you loved Tupac, and he called women bitches." There is a difference between recalling an artistic living experience or artistic expression versus bottled up ignorance to peddle to the masses. That disclaimer must be inserted for those rappers who claim that they are merely painting a picture like Pac. Here is my rebuttal "Give it up. You are not Pac. And don't insult his legacy as if you were." The only picture that rappers are painting today is a pretty clear picture of self hatred. The whole world gets the picture. The picture is that you are willing to exploit your mother, your sister, your auntie, your cousin, your daughter, your girlfriend, your wife, your queen for any bid that you can get.
But enough is enough.
Oprah said it. Jill Scott said it. Some sisters from Spelman said it. Soon we all will be saying it.
