Kat goes shopping....for a swimsuit! YIKES!

As some of you know, in exactly 30 days, I'll be taking in the sights, sounds and smells of Jamaica. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time, as I've never been out of the country.

The suit cases are sitting here waiting to be filled with tropical, warm weather clothes. But one thing is missing from my stack of goodies. A swimsuit. With a bright, clear ocean right out my resort door...I NEED a swimsuit..or something suitable to wear on the beach.

I have a swimsuit..but it's literally falling apart, and I think it's probably about 15 years old. So..I began my search. The stores here do not have summer apparel out as of yet..well, some do, but the selection is teeny weeny bikinis..and well, this ass ain't fittin' into no bikini, that's for sure. I was looking for something flattering, yet sexy, yet not too revealing. You have to remember...I'm past my mid 40's and well, my body is that of a mid 40's woman. Flab here...flab there...and my tummy, well, let's not even discuss that. It's more horrendous than my ass. So with bikinis and one piece grandmother suits out of the question, that only left me with a couple alternatives. A tankini with a skirted bottom, or a swimdress. Ok, the tankini is out, as it does not cover the jelly-belly santa gut. That leaves the swimdress.

I always thought online shopping would be fun..such is not the case when one is trying to find a swimsuit. My next thought is color...I need a bit of color in my life, as most of my clothing is black or deep shades of purple and green. Since I do not want to mistaken for a beached whale, I decide that gray is NOT my color. After doing a google search, and looking at countless svelte models in string bikinis, I'm getting discouraged. Maybe I have to try some different words in my search. So I type in..."plus size women's swimsuits" While I don't consider myself a plus size...I need to find something in the size range of 12 and 14...and if it runs small, even a 16, and my prior search only brought up said svelte models...So a searching I go..and I find a place called JMS. Just My Size. I've seen magazine articles for them, but thought they only delt with women's under garments. I was wrong. There are swimsuits on the site, and a pretty good selection too. I also found another site, called SwimSuitsForAll.com they also have a nice selection. So I searched between the two.

While they are NOT cheap, I did find one in my price range. It's very tropical looking, and has all of the features I was looking for. Hides the gut, covers the ass and hips, and accentuates the "girls". So for those of you non-svelte-size 5 model bodies, looking for a swimsuit for vacation or otherwise..I recommend these two places.

Ohhh...yeah...y'all probably wanna see the one I choose huh...well..ok..you can see it, if ya promise not to laugh. And if you laugh.. screw you..I can't see or hear you anyway, and your just jealous YOUR not going to Jamaica.. so there!
