There's a New Vampire in Town Actually he's on TV. Henry Fitzroy is the newest bloodsucking bad boy to appear on television. The so sexy vampire is in Lifetime Network’s new series Blood Ties which is based on the Blood Books novels by Tanya Huff . Set in the city of Toronto, Canada, this new series is about ex-cop turned private investigator Vicki Nelson, played by Christina Cox, who stumbles across a bizarre murder then gets hired by the victim’s girlfriend to find out who or what killed her boyfriend. The investigation leads her into the dark realm of the supernatural where she comes across Henry Fitzroy, graphic novelist and…450 year old vampire? Vicki does not believe in the supernatural or vampires but after all she sees she has no other choice. The series premiered Sunday, March 11. So far I have watched the first 2 episodes and I plan to watch them all. I have to admit I had my doubts with it being on Lifetime, but being a hard core vampire fan I had to check it out. I needed my vampire fix. It’s been awhile since Buffy and Angel went off the air and last summer’s series Blade on Spike just didn’t quite cut it for me. I like my vampires to be the good guys, not the bad guys. Blood Ties appeals to the romantic vampire image women crave. It is a little predictable but it is enjoyable and so much better than all the reality shows that are all over the place now (which I hate, give me a good escapist fantasy any day). Plus Kyle Schmid (who plays Henry) is so wonderful to look at, I can’t believe character Vicki Nelson doesn’t just fall into his arms, it is so apparent that he wants her bad. I know I would have been all over him in a second. Yet Vicki seems to be torn between Henry and her ex-partner (and ex?-lover) Detective Mike Celluci. I have to admit, without the supernatural element, specifically the hot vampire; I probably wouldn’t be interested in the show. I like mysteries and cop shows but the supernatural is what I really get into. Plus the sex appeal is so strong and the “torn between two lovers” theme that runs throughout the episodes will keep you wanting to know more. Will Vicki ever succumb to Henry’s charm? (I would). I think Lifetime has a hit that can fill in the niche that has been left vacant for awhile.© Roxanne
