One of my special talents, so I've been told, is my stubbornness, and I feel, one of the reasons I've gotten this far in my life.

There was once a time, when I didn't think I was stubborn at all. Friends would tease me about it. I'd look at them quizzically and say, "Who me? Stubborn? I'm not stubborn, I just like having my way!" I don't think that's being stubborn, do you? Don't you like to have you own way sometimes? Now while don't go around stamping my feet, pouting, having a hissy fit or an all out tantrum, I have a way of using my stubbornness in a nice way..and that's why y'all love me. But for shits and giggles, lets take a look at the definition of stubbornness, according to Webster's International Dictionary of the English Language, shall we?

1. Inflexible in opinion or intention. Hey, I'm flexible. Well, as flexible as I can be at my age. I can still get my legs over my lover's shoulders, however, it may take a crowbar to dislodge them. So the first part of this definition does not pertain to me at all. As for my intentions, they are very flexible...I want to screw his brains out, give him head, get my rocks off, and go to sleep!

2. Determined to have one's own way. Ok, ok, ok...so this definition does pertain to me. But come on, who doesn't like to have their own way? Huh? I love to have my own way with my man...don't you? So I don't think this one should really count, because most people I know feel the same way I do!

3. Not easily handled, bent or overcome. Well this is a complete and udder lie. I'm very easy to handle, and my honey can bend me over anytime! As for being overcome...ohhhhh yes, I'm overcome...hell yes... with ecstasy... when he has me bent over like that!

4. Characterized by perseverance or persistence. This I will agree with. I'm very persistent in getting what I want. But then again, who isn't? When it comes to luring my lover to do those unspeakable things he does to me with his hands, mouth and body. I'm damn persistent, because I want MORE!

5. Headstrong and obstinate? Yup, that's me alright. But let me tell you, those traits sure as hell got me through the trials and tribulations of breast cancer. I got the doctors I wanted, the medical care I wanted, and the treatment too. In this case, my stubbornness paid off!

All in all...I think we all have a bit of a stubborn streak in us. Most folks I know are well set in their opinions, and even though they may debate with others, they are still unyielding in them.

But slowly, I'm learning that being wise is knowing when my stubbornness is serving my real interests, or preventing me from dealing with things I need to deal with to grow. It seems getting older helps in sorting this out.

So embrace that little stubborn streak...and as they say, know when to hold 'em..and know when to fold 'em. That's the ticket!
