One Way I have the world's worst sense of direction. I need the brain to program the way home. They say we are creatures of habit. It may be true. Once I find a way to get somewhere I have it logged in the hard drive of memory. There is one problem...if the reverse trip has to be different I am in trouble. I have been traveling the last few days to one of the best hospitals for my treatment. I can almost set my car on auto pilot to get there. I have to...I have had to leave my home at 6 AM to get there. No problem. I can find the various parking lots, the gimp (I can say this because I are one) parking places, the valet parking, etc. And I am not in the land of the living at 6 AM. So I have to be on auto pilot. There is a problem...getting home. After a day of testing and consultations, all I want to do is get home and rest. But the auto pilot has shut off. And there are a whole series of one way streets. The first time I missed the turn for the highway. Well, I really didn't miss it but I thought I did and I turned on a street I knew the name. It's a good thing my friend practically has a map of the city burned into his brain. I called him, in a mild state of panic, and he gave me directions on how to get home. Needless to say, I had the scenic route. I got to go through the entertainment district of the city at 5 PM. It only took an hour and a half to make a 22 minute (no traffic) jaunt. I did it again tonight. Cocky and sure, I reeled out of the parking lot at 5 PM and headed, I thought, home. There was only one problem. I was headed in the opposite direction. I was headed one way on 28th street and should have been headed one way on 26th street. I forgot to make two left turns. Now, there really does have to be more signs directing those of us who are directionally challenged. Either that, or GET RID OF THE ONE WAY STREETS!!!!!!! You see, the clue that I was heading the wrong way is that the street dead ended in a lake and not to a freeway entrance. Duh. Panic again. But I did not call my friend. I took two lefts where I was and got headed back on the correct one way street. I need the auto pilot to log into the hard drive and program the way home.
